Aircraft parts and industrial equipment can be subject to export controls and sanctions of the European Union, Germany and the United States. Our Conditions of Sale (section 9, Export) refer to this page. Goods purchased from FTS Group GmbH must not be shipped to any country under an embargo without the required export or re-export licence.
The following warning signs are based on the “Know Your Customer” guidance of the U.S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS). They can indicate that a transaction is intended for an inappropriate end use, end user or destination. Customers, freight forwarders and our own team should look out for them.
Warning signs
- The customer or its address is similar to a party on a denied, restricted or sanctioned parties list.
- The customer or purchasing agent is reluctant to give information about the end use of the item.
- The product’s capabilities do not fit the buyer’s line of business.
- The item ordered is incompatible with the technical level of the country it is being shipped to.
- The customer is willing to pay cash for a very expensive item when the terms of sale would normally call for financing.
- The customer has little or no business background.
- The customer is unfamiliar with the product’s performance characteristics but still wants the product.
- Routine installation, training or maintenance services are declined by the customer.
- Delivery dates are vague, or deliveries are planned for out-of-the-way destinations.
- A freight forwarding firm is listed as the product’s final destination.
- The shipping route is abnormal for the product and destination.
- Packaging is inconsistent with the stated method of shipment or destination.
- When questioned, the buyer is evasive, especially about whether the product is for domestic use, export or re-export.
What happens if a warning sign appears
If an enquiry or order shows one or more of these signs, we may ask for further information, such as an end-use or end-user statement, before we proceed. We reserve the right to refuse any transaction that we cannot clear under applicable export control and sanctions law.
